Baby Boomers, Do You Blog? Learn What Your Grandchildren Already Know.

It is true that baby boomers have grandchildren. Some have many grandchildren. Now is the time to stay connected. Blogging is a simple, low-tech way to stay in touch. I'm not going to define a blog or explain its long history. It's a technology that has been around for years, but it's getting a lot of attention now.

If you've ever thought of a travelogue or family cooking class, this is for you.

Don't our grandchildren seem far more technologically advanced? They have their own language, which they rarely share. We often find children on computers, mobile phones, or MP3 players. Their attention is hard to come by and you want to communicate with them.

What can we do to catch up? If you're using email instead of posting, you're on the right track. Ever heard of blogging? do not be afraid. Getting started is easy.

What is the reason for your blog?

The whole family can access the blog at any time. Pages never disappear, so no information is lost. Blogs are interactive. When you post to your blog, other users can comment on your post. Blogs allow photos. For example, let's say you want to write about tomatoes.

You can talk about how the tomatoes have grown, how many tomatoes there are this year, and take pictures with your digital camera. The blog has an audio recording. You can set up your blog to record small conversations. How about reading a book on your phone and having this recording posted for all your grandchildren?

Email is not so easy. It may sound too technical, but the baby boomer is as easy as setting up his new email account.

Google has it all. You've probably heard of Google, but it's become a common word now. We no longer search online, we search on Google.

Google has a service called Blogger. On this page you can find all the information you need to get started.
