What is CCD?

CCD is an imaging chip. CCD stands for Charge-Coupled Device, a light-sensing circuit that stores electrical charges representing every tiny part of an image. The difference between low-end and high-end video cameras is usually determined by the number of CCDs (one or three) and the size of the CCDs. In a video camera, the number of CCDs determines the sharpness of the image in low light (usually indoors). The size of the CCD is directly related to the amount of "color bleeding" present in the video.

It's also interesting to note that pixel size is much more important than the number of pixels in a video camera, unlike a still camera. The fewer and larger the pixels, the better your camcorder will be. Also note that as you move from low-end to high-end cameras, you'll see less and less camera "add-ons" such as: B. Ability to capture "still images".
